Video Mask

Transform standard videos into artistic silhouettes! The DP Video Mask module for Divi 5 crops self-hosted or external videos into unique preset shapes, custom SVG vectors, or styled typography outlines.

How to add module on page

To place a masked video on your page, use the following steps:

  1. Create/Edit a Page/Post with the Divi builder.
  2. Create/Edit a row.
  3. Click on Add New Module option; choose the DP Video Mask module.

Content settings

Video source

Upload a self-hosted MP4 video file or paste a link from YouTube or Vimeo. You can add multiple video items to display stacked video layouts.

Mask type

Choose your masking style. Presets include standard geometric shapes (Circle, Hexagon, Star). You can also upload a custom SVG file or use the Text Mask option.

Text mask value

When selecting Text Mask, enter custom heading text. The video will render inside the letter shapes, creating a moving video texture inside your words.

Design settings

Mask geometry

Adjust scaling multipliers, alignment settings, and repeat modes (no-repeat, repeat, round) to map the mask accurately over the video content.

Typography and shadow

For Text Masks, configure thick typography parameters (heavy weights, text-transform uppercase) and add drop shadows to make text margins stand out against page colors.

Pro Tip: Use a heavy, bold font family (like Impact or Montserrat Extra Bold) when setting up a Text Mask so that more of the video area is visible through the letters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mask YouTube or Vimeo videos?

Yes. The module is fully compatible with self-hosted MP4 uploads as well as external links from YouTube and Vimeo.

How does Text Masking work?

It crops the video to the boundary of your custom text characters. The letters act as window cutouts, displaying the video playing directly inside them.

Will masked videos autoplay automatically?

Yes, you can enable autoplay. Keep in mind that modern web browsers require videos to be muted to support autoplay behaviors.
