Event countdown module

Overview of the event countdown module

This document provides a comprehensive guide on configuring and using the Event Countdown module for Divi 5. The Event Countdown module shows a live days, hours, minutes and seconds timer to an event. It can count to the event you are viewing, the next upcoming event, or one specific event, and you choose what happens when the time is up.

  2. Click the gray (+) icon inside a row to add a new module.
  3. Search for Event Countdown in the module search box.
  4. Click the module to insert it. Its settings open on the right.

Content tab settings

The Content tab controls which events the module shows and how they are displayed. The module-specific settings are grouped into the toggles below; Link, Background and Element Label are the standard Divi options.

Event

Event Countdown Event settings
  • Event Source: Which event source this module reads from. Site default follows the setting under Divi Extended → Events; pinning one lets a second module on the same page read from another, which is a supported configuration rather than a migration step.
  • Event: Which event the timer runs to. “This event” follows the event the page is about, so one layout serves every event, and is offered only where there is one — a single event or a Theme Builder template. Options: This event, Next upcoming event, A specific event.
  • Choose Event: The event this timer counts to. If it is later deleted or unpublished the module renders nothing rather than switching to another event, so a pinned countdown never quietly becomes a countdown to something else.
  • Count Down To: Whether the timer runs out when the event starts or when it finishes. Options: Event start, Event end.
  • Filters: Controls which events the timer can count down to. Any includes all events, Yes includes only events with the Featured setting enabled, and No includes only events that are not featured.

Display

Event Countdown Display settings
  • Units: Which units to show. Whichever is largest absorbs the rest, so clearing Days gives you the full number of hours. Options: Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds.
  • When The Time Is Up: What the module does once the countdown reaches zero. Options: Hide the module, Show a message, Stay at zero.
  • Message: Shown in place of the digits once the countdown reaches zero.

Tip: Use Event = This event inside a Theme Builder single event template, so one layout counts down to whichever event is open.

Design tab settings

The Design tab lets you style every part of the module. Each toggle below controls one element:

  • Digits: style of the countdown numbers.
  • Unit Labels: style of the Days, Hours, Mins, Secs labels.
  • Sizing, Spacing, Border, Box Shadow, Filters, Transform, Animation: the standard Divi design options for the whole module.
