Divilancer Child Theme Documentation

File Structure

A download link is sent in the order confirmation email. The product can also be downloaded from My Account area.

Here is information about the files:

  1. Divilancer-1.0.zip (extract this to get the following two files).
    1. divilancer.zip (for installation).
    2. divilancer-supplementary-files.zip
      1. Divi Theme Layouts (contains individual layouts for Divi Library)
      2. content.xml
      3. Divi Theme Options.json
      4. Divi Customizer Settings.json
      5. Divi-Theme-Builder-Templates.json

Installation

  1. On your WordPress Dashboard go to Appearance >> Themes >> Add New >> Upload Theme >> Choose File.
  2. Browse the theme file divilancer.zip and click on Install Now.
  3. Click Activate.

Import demo content

  1. Extract the divilancer-supplementary-files.zip
  2. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Tools >> Import.
  3. Click Install Now under the WordPress section.
  4. Click Run Importer.
  5. Click the Choose File button.
  6. Browse the content of the extracted supplementary zip file and select the Content.xml file.
  7. Click on Upload file and import button.
  8. On the next screen (Assign Authors) page, either create a new user account by providing a username in the input field or assign posts to an existing user by selecting an existing user on your website.
  9. Under the Import Attachment section, select the checkbox to import the media content while importing the content. This will include the demo images (not the same as the demo site but free to use placeholder images).
  10. Click Submit.
  11. This process takes a little time. Once done, the demo content will be imported on the site.

Import Customizer settings

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Customize.
  2. Click on Import & Export icon on the top left between the Exit (X) and Publish button.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on Choose File.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi Customizer Settings.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Customizer Settings.
  7. The changes will be saved automatically after the import. Exit the Customizer.

Import Divi Theme Options

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Divi >> Theme Options.
  2. Click on the Import & Export icon.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on Choose File.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi Theme Options.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Theme Options.
  7. Save the changes after the import, and exit the Divi theme builder.

Import Divi Theme Builder templates

  1. On WordPress Dashboard go to Divi >> Theme Builder.
  2. Click on Import & Export icon.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on No File Selected to open the file upload window.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi-Theme-Builder-Templates.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Theme Builder Templates.
  7. Click on Save Changes. The following templates will appear after importing the Theme Builder Templates.
  8. There is a template created that is assigned to Blog page (which we set from WordPress Reading Settings) and All Archives.

Set Navigation

  1. Go to the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Menus.
  2. On the Edit Menus tab, select the Primary Menu from the list and click Select.
  3. On the Menu Settings area, in the Display location, check Primary Menu and click Save.

Set Home and Blog page

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading.
  2. Under “Your Homepage Displays”, select “A Static page (select below)” option.
  3. In the Homepage option, open the list and select Home as your page.
  4. In the Posts Page option, open the list and select Blog as your posts page.
  5. Save Changes.

Set Portfolio

  1. Portfolios as per demo are imported during the content.xml import.
  2. Go to your WordPress Dashboard >> Portfolios >> All Portfolios and edit one.
  3. Replace the demo content with your own content.
  4. In order to add a new Portfolio, go to Add New and fill your details for new Portfolio items.
  5. On the homepage, to display, the selected portfolio items, edit the section and put the ID of each Portfolio. You can obtain the ID of a Portfolio by editing it and looking at the URL. For eg: post=1331&action=edit (A portion of a URL suggests 1331 as post ID).

Set “My Experience” Block

  1. Go to the section “My Experience”
  2. Then, you’d find a text module. To make changes according to your need. Just simply edit the module.
  3. For your employer’s name or company’s name you worked for, input the text in “h4” tag.
  4. To add your post of employment or designation input text in “p” tag with class-name ”el-position”.
  5. To add the number of years you worked for the organization, input your text in “p” tag with class-name ”el-year”.
  6. To add description of your work or job responsibility, input text in “p” tag
  7. Save changes.
  8. To add more experience, just copy the module and follow the same procedure.

Set Sidebar

  1. Open the readme.md available in the child theme root directory.
  2. It has the demo code for the sidebar widgets.
  3. Go to the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets >> Sidebar.
  4. Add widgets as in the Sidebar as per demo or as you like.

Set Footer

  1. Open the readme.md available in the child theme root directory.
  2. It has the demo code for the footer widgets.
  3. Go to the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets >> Footer Area #1, 2, 3 and 4, and one by one add widgets as per the readme.md file.
