Divi Classic Agency Child Theme Documentation

File structure

A download link is sent in the order confirmation email. The product can also be downloaded from My Account area.

After the purchase of the Divi Classic Agency child theme, you’ll get the following files.

  1. divi-classic-agency.zip (install this one).
  2. divi-classic-agency-supplementary-product-files.zip contains following files.
    1. Divi Builder Layouts folder (contains individual layouts for Divi Library)
    2. content.xml
    3. Divi Theme Options.json
    4. Divi Customizer Settings.json
    5. Divi-Theme-Builder-Templates.json
    6. All Divi Builder Layouts.json

Installation

  1. On your WordPress Dashboard go to Appearance >> Themes >> Add New >> Upload Theme >> Choose File.
  2. Browse the theme file divi-classic-agency.zip on your computer and then click on Install Now.
  3. On the next window, after installation click Activate.

Install required plugins

  1. Once the child theme is activated, it will look prompt for installing the required plugin. Click on Begin Installing Plugin link displayed on top of the page.
  2. On the next page, click Install under WP Logo Showcase Responsive Slider to complete the installation of the plugin. This plugin is required for the homepage logo rotator.
  3. After successful installation of the plugin click Return to Required Plugin Installer.
  4. Then, click Activate.

Import demo content

  1. Extract the divi-classic-agency-supplementary-product-files.zip file.
  2. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Tools >> Import.
  3. Click Install Now under the WordPress section.
  4. Click Run Importer.
  5. Click the Choose File button.
  6. Browse the content of the extracted supplementary zip file and select Content.xml file.
  7. Click on Upload file and import.
  8. On the next screen (Assign Authors) page, either create a new user account by providing a username in the input field or assign posts to an existing user by selecting an existing user on your website.
  9. Under the Import Attachments section, select the checkbox to import the media content while importing the content. This will include the demo.
  10. Click Submit.
  11. The process takes a little time. Once done, the demo content will be imported on the site.

Import Customizer settings

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Customize.
  2. Click on the Import & Export icon on the top left between the Exit (X) and the Publish button.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on Choose File.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi Customizer Settings.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Customizer Settings.
  7. The changes will be saved automatically after the import. Exit the Customizer.

Import Divi Theme Options

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Divi >> Theme Options.
  2. Click on the Import & Export icon.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on Choose File.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi Theme Options.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Theme Options.
  7. Save the changes after the import and exit the Divi theme builder.

Import Divi Builder Layouts

  1. This step required, in case you’ve deleted previously imported layouts with content.xml file, or there are new layouts available to import.
  2. Go to your WordPress Dashboard >> Divi >> Divi Library.
  3. Click on the Import & Export button.
  4. Click on Import.
  5. Click on Choose File.
  6. Browse the supplementary files directory and select All Divi Builder Layouts.json file, if you want to import all the layouts at once. Or you can select a single file at a time as required.
  7. Click on Import Divi Builder Layouts.
  8. This process would take a little time. Once done, the Divi Builder Layouts will get imported on the site.

Import Divi Theme Builder templates

  1. On WordPress Dashboard go to Divi >> Theme Builder.
  2. Click on the Import & Export/ Portability icon.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on No File Selected to open the file upload window.
  5. Browse the supplementary files directory and select Divi-Theme-Builder-Templates.json.
  6. Click on Import Divi Theme Builder Templates.
  7. Click on Save Changes. The following templates are created after importing the Theme Builder.
    1. Default Website Template with custom global footer.
    2. All inner page headers. The custom body will let you change the design of the page title of all pages in one go. The content block in this template renders the content in fullwidth from the actual page content. This template loads on all Pages except the homepage.
    3. Blog. This template works as the blog page. To make it work, go to Reading settings and select the Blog from imported page as the Posts page. This is one of the multiple blog layouts available in the child theme. Edit the body of this template and import the preferred blog layouts which are already imported in Divi Library while importing content.xml.
    4. Archive 1. This is the same as the blog layout. Keeping it separate from the Blog template gives you option to define a global layout for all archives except the Blog Page.
    5. Archive 2 (unassigned). This is the same as the Archive 1 layout but unassigned, gives you functionality to change the Archive layout whenever needed.
    6. Post Layout 1, 2, 3 & 4. These are the multiple post layouts available in the child theme. By default Post Layout 1 is assigned to all the posts, however if you want to use other available Post layouts as layout for the posts, then right click on the template file, further click Manage Template Assignments, and then assign layout according to your needs. 
    7. Testimonials Archive Page. This is the template that displays the testimonials on the page.
    8. Search Results. Template to display the search results.
    9. 404 Page. Template for the 404 page.

Set Navigation

  1. Go to the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Menus.
  2. On the Edit Menus tab, select the Primary Menu from the list and click Select.
  3. On the Menu Settings area, in the Display location, check Primary Menu and click Save.

Set Footer

  1. The footer is rendered from the Divi Theme Builder global footer area. It has 2 custom menus.
  2. Go to the WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Widgets >> Footer Area #1.
  3. Add Navigation Menu widget to it.
  4. Then, for Select Menu, choose “About Menu” as a custom menu which is imported along with the content.
  5.  Repeat the same for Footer Area #2 and select the “Company Menu” as a custom menu.
  6. You can edit the links on these two menus from the Appearance >> Menus.
  7. Other elements of the footer can be edited by going to the Divi Theme Builder and editing the Footer.

Set Home and Blog page

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading.
  2. Under “Your homepage displays”, select “A static page (select below)” option.
  3. Under Homepage, open the list and select Home as your page.
  4. Under the Posts Page, open the list and select Blog as your page.
  5. Save Changes.

Set Sidebar

  1. Open the readme.md available in the child theme root directory.
  2. It has the demo code for the sidebar widgets.

Projects

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard >> Projects >> Add New.
  2. Load the Divi Theme Builder
  3. Import the layout (Portfolio Single Layout) from Divi Library.
  4. Update the content and save the page.

Importing the alternate Divi 4 templates like Header, and Footer.

  1. Go to the WordPress Dashboards >> Divi >> Theme Builder.
  2. Edit the template you want to change.
  3. For the header and footer, edit the global module and import it from the Divi Library.
  4. For the other templates, edit the body and import it from the Divi Library.
  5. Also, to help users check out the look and feel of the Header and Footer layouts, the child theme has imported Header and Footer pages. So, users can easily distinguish which layout they want to use and which not. You’re free to delete those, as they are only to provide users the final look of their website if they choose one of the layouts.

Displaying testimonials on homepage

Edit the homepage and open the code module in the testimonials section. Use the post ID for each testimonial you want to display on the rotator.
